Designed by Matthew Hesson-McInnis for MJ Simple Sock Fingering Weight sock yarn, the model shows the socks knit with a contrasting color for the toe, heel, and cuff ribbing. The pattern uses an afterthought heel, making it very easy to work in a contrasting color. Although the yardage in MJ Simple Sock is ample enough for all but the largest of feet, the color combinations are too gorgeous to pass up the opportunity to pair them up. The contrasting color also helps illustrate the construction method.
The model was knit with Joseph as the main color and with Cerulean Twilight for the contrasting color in the toe, heel, and cuff.
The afterthought heel accommodates knitting the socks top-down if you prefer.
The pattern includes tinyurl.com links to instructions for a number of techniques that are quite helpful if you are new to toe-up socks. Those links are included here for your convenience.
